Mission & Values

The Sound of Toronto

QUESTION

Why does Toronto keep hitting the right notes around the world?

The Answer

Every culture that arrived here brought its own rhythm. Those rhythms met on Yonge Street, in church basements in Scarborough, in Yorkville coffeehouses, in Little Jamaica, in Regent Park. They collided, borrowed, and blended until they became something that could only have come from here.

The Toronto Music Experience exists to tell this unsung story. To celebrate what has been created here, honour what is being made today, and inspire what comes next.

OUR MISSION

The Toronto
Music Experience celebrates Toronto’s multicultural music legacy and empowers our creative future.

Our pledge to equity extends to eradicating physical, social and economic obstacles to participation in our programs.
  • TME strives to stimulate learning through a deeper understanding of Toronto’s music culture, showcase its diversity and champion emerging artists.
We look to inspire future artists and enrich the knowledge of the larger community by celebrating the past, present, and future of the city’s music.
  • TME seeks to engage the communities that comprise the Toronto Area in the spirit of collaboration and partnership to tell the stories of the city.

In every world class city you’re going to find a physical space that is representative of the importance of that city’s cultural history.  So let’s do that here.
